A friend who got her MFA said her (very excellent) program "legitimized" her telling others that writing would take up her time and energy. Once she had that courage, she was unstoppable, and she is a great inspiration to me! To your note, Judy, I know I justify my "stealing" of time as part of teaching my children to make time for what they love, too!
HannahAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37180398.post-90375311975134026182007-04-25T11:32:00.000-04:002007-04-25T11:32:00.000-04:00Doing something for love is what we all hope for i...Doing something for love is what we all hope for isn't it? Writing has been my dream since i was a little girl, but I never could have stuck with it if I didn't love it--that's what I hope for my children and my friends--that they'll find a job that's a passion for them which will make it easier for them to sit down and do it even on those mornings when it's hard.

Great post, lovely analogy.Judy Merrill Larsenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06675069484490433295noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37180398.post-47452412936500533322007-04-25T10:38:00.000-04:002007-04-25T10:38:00.000-04:00This is exactly how I feel.I've always been a writ...This is exactly how I feel.

I've always been a writer, but I didn't start writing seriously until two and half years ago.

I've written six YA books since. I don't have an MFA, but I'll tell ya, I never learn more than from actually writing and revising.

That's my advice to people who think they want to write; Just write, and you'll figure it out as you go.Michelle Zinkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08127978024081928639noreply@blogger.com
